Dayton SKYWARN Net Control Operators

Response Time has been extended!

 

Dayton SKYWARN “W8OK” is looking for licensed amateur radio operators who are interested in becoming a part of Dayton SKYWARN’s Sectional Net Operations. All Sectional Net Operator shifts are needed, with special emphasis towards the daytime hours.

Response time has been extended to up to 30 minutes, due to better activation notification by the National Weather Service.  Interested Hams need to be able to respond to the Dayton SKYWARN operating location, at Little York and Dog Leg Roads in Butler Township, within a 30 minute (or less) response window using in bad weather and drive time conditions.  Applicants must be willing to provide their own pager (digital or alphanumeric) or cell phone, at their cost. (If they already have an existing pager they would not need to obtain another).

SKYWARN black Polo Shirts, with the Orange & White SKYWARN embroidered logo, will again be sold by Dayton SKYWARN during Hamvention in May.  The shirts will be available from any of the Dayton SKYWARN Sectional Net Ops working in the NWS/Skywarn Booth for $25.00.  If it's a wet Hamvention weekend Dayton SKYWARN is prepared and will also have rain ponchos for sale at the booth for $5.  100% of the proceeds from the sale of these items go to help support Dayton SKYWARN recurring costs.
